Dear Parents,

Welcome to our Science page. At St Thomas of Canterbury we love science and are always looking for new and exciting areas to investigate. From inviting Mad Scientists into our school to attending the Great Science Share at the Etihad Stadium, we have made sure that we champion science and all it has to offer our world. Working with experts is also very important to us, so if you feel you can offer our school expertise in a particular area, we would love to hear from you.

The following sections will give you an insight into what science looks like in our school; examples of activities you can do at home; details of assessment and pictures of our budding world changers in action.

Useful links and activities

In time, your children will begin to see that cooking is chemistry, drawing the curtains is physics and growing a plant is biology. In the meantime, encourage your child to make these links in their everyday lives and to have lots of fun discovering how the world works.

This website contains some simple, fun ideas which relate to learning about our world. I particularly like ice fishing.
