At St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School, we view computing as an
opportunity to inspire and stimulate our children to learn new skills that will
help them to further become a well-rounded person. Computing is not only taught
as an individual subject, but is taught across other subjects too so that
pupils at St Thomas of Canterbury have exciting experiences. In all
experiences, we allow children to have the chance to explore and problem solve
using technology to further develop their problem solving minds. There are many
rich, creative opportunities provided for our children including visiting the
Bolton TIC Centre working on ‘Lego Mindstorm’ and people visiting to discuss
the importance of Online Safety.
Throughout their time, children learn about how to
use technology and how it is used in our lives. This includes using multimedia
technology, how to be safe online, ways technology is used and handling and
collecting data using various technologies. They also use a range of
technologies including data loggers, iPads and Bee Bots.
